About DaHunt for the Cure . . .
DaHunt for the Cure was founded by Charles and Diane Medici in 2008, with its mission to support various local charities. The idea was an immediate success! People were drawn to the combination of the great outdoors, a little friendly competition, camaraderie with fellow business professionals, and help the needs of children and their families.
The inspiration for DaHunt for the Cure was born from the personal way blood cancer has touched my life since my nephew, Peter, was diagnosed with leukemia. We personally invite you to participate in this event, in Peter’s honor and in support of all those that are still fighting today!Peter is now an extremely healthy college graduate in his early 20s and is working for the family business as a project manager.
DaHunt for the Cure joined the Community Foundation of Orange & Sullivan Donor Advised Fund in 2017. This will allow us to continue the support of these very important causes, for years to come. Each year we will choose a different one of our favorite charities to be highlighted for that year.
Please join us in support of these wonderful and worthy causes!
Charities We Support
DaHunt For The Cure proudly supports the following charities:
COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF ORANGE & SULLIVAN
Founded in 1999, the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan currently manages nearly 300 separate component funds and has distributed over $11 million in charitable grants and educational scholarships since the organization was established. These numbers continue to grow as more people step forward as generous participants in the vision of a stronger community. There are many different ways of giving to and through the Community Foundation. Funds can be established for a variety of charitable purposes, and can support one or multiple charities.
THE CHILDRENS HOME of POUGHKEEPSIE
On June 21, 1847, a group of Poughkeepsie women met to form the Female Guardian Society to care for the poor, abandoned and neglected in their communities, most especially the children. Their belief was that children deserve a nurturing and caring environment.
More than 170 years later, the underlying mission of the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie is the same: to provide a safe and nurturing environment that improves lives and empowers at-risk children and families in the Hudson Valley and surrounding communities.
KIDS FOR KIDS
Kids for Kids Foundation is a community of friends, families, and colleagues raising money for organizations that support children and families struggling with medical challenges.
Our family-focused events celebrate all that we have to be grateful for and serve to inspire the next generation of humanitarians – our children.
GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center’s mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. We offer free therapeutic and educational programming to
individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
THE SUNSHINE KIDS FOUNDATION
The Sunshine Kids Foundation adds quality of life to children with cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities, so they may once again do what kids are meant to do . . . have fun and celebrate life!
We look forward to the day when The Sunshine Kids Foundation will no longer need to exist. Until that time, the entire Sunshine Kids family is dedicated to providing the most exciting activities, trips and events for as many young cancer patients as possible.
CANCER RESOURCE CENTER HUDSON VALLEY
The mission of the Cancer Resource Center of the Hudson Valley is to make the cancer journey easier to bear for cancer patients and their families by being the voice of advocacy and support for the Hudson Valley community of people living with and affected by cancer and providing informational and educational resources and support services to improve quality of life through all stages of the cancer journey.
